Boat Lift Repair on Lake Norman
Snapped cable? Lift stuck halfway with the boat on it? Grinding pulleys? We repair every style of lift on the lake — usually in a single visit.
What goes wrong with lifts on Lake Norman
A boat lift is a winch system living outdoors, half in the water, hauling several thousand pounds dozens of times a season. Parts wear — and on Lake Norman, the winter drawdown adds a twist: lifts set for summer water depth can ground out or load unevenly when Duke Energy lowers the lake. Here's what we fix most:
- Cables — rusted, frayed, kinked or snapped lift cables, re-spooled and replaced with galvanized or stainless. The single most common failure on the lake.
- Pulleys & sheaves — worn or seized pulleys that chew through new cables and make the lift groan under load.
- Bunks & cradles — cracked boards, torn carpet, bent cradle arms that let the hull sit wrong and stress the whole lift.
- Stuck & uneven lifts — lifts that rack side-to-side, stop mid-travel, or won't seat the boat level.
- Motors, gearboxes & switches — covered in depth on our lift motor & gearbox repair page.
- Seasonal adjustment — re-leveling and depth-adjusting lifts for drawdown and spring refill so they work all year.
Cable, hydraulic and floating lifts — all of them
Lake Norman docks carry every style: classic cable-drive lifts on pilings, hydraulic lifts, floating lifts common in deeper coves, and PWC ramps. We service all the major brands you'll find on the lake. If it raises a boat, we can repair it — and if a part is truly obsolete, we'll tell you what the modern replacement actually costs instead of guessing.
What a repair visit looks like
You call or send the form, ideally with a phone photo. We come out, put eyes on the lift, and quote the fix on the spot — free. Most cable, pulley and bunk repairs are completed the same visit because we stock the common sizes. You're back on the water that afternoon, not in three weeks.
Where we work
The whole lake: Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Denver, Sherrills Ford & Terrell, Troutman, and Mountain Island Lake.
